The Dell PowerMax 8500 delivers unmatched performance and scalability for massive consolidation of block, file, and mainframe storage. Start small with two nodes and scale up to 16 nodes with up to 18 PBe of total capacity. With the PowerMax cyber vault solution, it provides industry-leading cyber resiliency and continuous availability for mission-critical workloads.

Flexible, Modular Architecture

Built on the Dynamic Fabric architecture and Flexible RAID, PowerMax allows independent growth of nodes and storage capacity in single-drive increments. Utilizing Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and cutting-edge NVMe technologies—including dual-ported NVMe flash drives, NVMe/TCP connectivity, and InfiniBand 100Gb/s—PowerMax 8500 ensures high-speed, low-latency data access with continuous data reduction.

Each node pair contains two compute nodes with software, cache, redundant power, and connectivity, combined with 48-slot Dynamic Media Enclosures (DMEs) to configure NVMe flash drives. Inclusive software packages provide simplified management and extend system longevity with Dell’s Future-Proof program.

Support for Any Workload

PowerMax 8500’s single architecture supports block, file, and VMware vVols, accommodating traditional and modern workloads—from relational databases and ERP/EMR apps to cloud-native applications and file-based workloads. With DC, low-line power, and NEBS-ready solutions, it simplifies infrastructure consolidation while supporting multi-protocol networks and multi-format storage (physical, virtual, containers, and files) in a single platform.
