    The MX2010 Universal Routing Platform is an Ethernet-optimized router that provides both switching and carrier-class Ethernet routing. The MX2010 router supports service provider core, converged core and edge, and edge applications, and enables a wide range of business and residential and services, including high-speed transport and VPN services, next-generation broadband multiplay services, and high-volume Internet data center internetworking.

    The MX2010 chassis provides redundancy and resiliency. All major hardware components including the power system, the cooling system, the Control Board and the switch fabrics are fully redundant.

    The MX2010 router is 34 rack units (U) tall. One router can be installed in an open-frame rack, four-post rack, or cabinet. The MX2010 router has 10 dedicated line-card slots which means a maximum of 10 Modular Port Concentrators (MPCs) including adapter cards (ADCs), and Modular Interface Cards (MICs), a host subsystem consisting of 2 Control Board with Routing Engines (CB-REs), and 8 Switch Fabric Boards (SFBs).

    High Scale and Density: Provides 40 Tbps of system capacity and support for up to 400 100GbE or 80 400GbE interfaces.

    Carrier Grade Platform: Combines support for the carrier-grade Junos operating system with a fully redundant architecture for uninterrupted service availability under any network conditions.

    Versatile MultiService Edge: Addresses core, edge, and converged edge and core applications with its ultra-high density and performance. Supports residential and business services, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), SDN gateway, services routing, and many other applications.

    Cooling system: The cooling system components work together to keep all router components within the acceptable temperature range. The router has four fan trays, two trays located at the top, and two trays located at the bottom of the router that install horizontally. Each fan tray contains six fans and are 172 mm in diameter. The fan trays are interchangeable and are hot-insertable and hot-removable.

    Simple Hardware Upgrades: Enables you to introduce new hardware into the MX2010 platform without having to upgrade Junos OS, preventing costly downtime.

    Built-In Security: Provides inline MACsec at 10/40/100GbE interfaces with no performance penalties.

    Investment Protection: Delivers outstanding scale for long-term traffic growth as well as an upgrade path for existing MX Series users, with support for the same MPCs as the MX2020, MX2008, MX960, MX480, and MX240 Universal Routing Platforms.
